Primary Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Utilize third party software to report and disseminate development officer activities and/or prospect information. (10%)
  • With guidance and direction from the Sr. Manager of Development Research and Analytics, assist in portfolio development in conjunction with the fundraising staff’s goals.  (10%)
  • Identify potential donors through the creation and interpretation of predictive modeling and statistical analysis. (5%)
  • Prepare reports for development officers and leadership on prospect and proposal stage movement and timelines. (10%)
  • Update Prospect Management System, and assign gift and solicitation credit to appropriate development officers. Cross check prospect lists and solicitation plans to match database and external vendor tracking system information. (10%)
  • Assist the Sr. Manager of Development Research and Analytics in developing and maintaining written policies and procedures for the Development Research program. Review user compliance of policies and procedures and address issues. Provide clarification and/or further explanation to development staff on prospect management-related policies and procedures, as necessary. (5%)
  • Ensure the data integrity of the Prospect Management System by monitoring the day-to-day input and workflow. Oversee audits of the data; facilitate cleanup as needed. (10%)
  • Support operation as they relate to the Prospect Management System (e.g., coding of contact reports, tracking donor contact and communications, archiving relationship information). (10%)
  • Counsel development staff on Prospect Management questions, challenges and issues; make decisions based on objective and informed interpretation of the Prospect Management policies and procedures. (10%)


  • Review and edit contact reports entered by development staff.  Determine appropriate follow-up to relevant development staff based on contact report entry behavior, as needed. (10%)
  • Coordinate and conduct Prospect Management Policies and Banner Trainings; prepare materials and maintain a supply of handouts for trainings. (5%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned. (5%)

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in relevant area and two to five years of appropriate experience. Relevant experience may substitute for required education. Must be able to conduct accurate and timely research and communicate results of that research. Must have excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, and a professional telephone manner.  Experience with Microsoft Office, Ellucian Banner, ResearchPoint, Lexis Nexus, Advizor Solutions, Evertrue, SQL, and Iwave is preferred.  Have the ability to interact with Development Staff and other University Staff to establish good working relationships or individually or in a team environment. These skills should have been acquired through previous work experience and/or formal training/education.
