The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc. (UTFI) is seeking a Senior Director of Development for the College of Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, Tennessee. Under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor of Development and Alumni Affairs or their designee, the ideal candidate will establish and maintain strong and effective relationships with UTHSC’s major internal, and external constituencies which include Executive Dean and the College of Medicine’s nearly 40 statewide departments. This position cultivates, develops, and stewards principal giving prospects.
Responsibilities include strategizing and leading all major gifts fundraising efforts with two departmental Directors of Development for the College of Medicine that include departments on the Memphis, Knoxville, and Chattanooga campuses. This position is expected to make a minimum of 160 face-to-face visits. This position will conduct fundraising and marketing activities in coordination with the Directors of Development and Development Administrative Assistant for the College of Medicine and Hamilton Eye Institute.
Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relatable field; a master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must have a minimum of eight or more years of experience in college-based fundraising. A minimum of two years of supervision or management experience is required. Non-profit experience, higher education fundraising, or health care fundraising is preferred. Successful candidate must possess a high level of motivation, initiative, flexibility, and creativity with ability to focus and prioritize. The ability and willingness to travel nationally is required. ANDI experience is preferred.
Skills: The preferred candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and management and leadership skills. The ability and willingness to travel both locally and internationally is required. ANDI experience preferred.
